I used to wonder… ok, I got Thought creates my experiences. I do not experience other people, situation, circumstances, etc. So, why should I go over it again and again. What would I gain by reading books or watching videos about “The Three Principles” repeatedly? And then I realized whenever I go through it, my awareness increases…. My awareness about the unconditioned entity in my mind. As a result, the thought objects which have got created in my mind begin to melt and then my personality and my behavior changes.
Eg. Yesterday, I had to catch a train and I started late from my place. If I miss that train, I would have wait for almost an hour for the next one. Earlier me would have created lots of panic in the mind and hurried so much in that situation that even if I got the train, my state of mind would have got haywire. But yesterday, I was calm in those ten minutes …in the journey from home to station. I did not have a single thought about the train. Somewhere in my mind it was like… “If I miss the train, I will have wait for an hour. So be it”.
Previously, somewhere I was identified with this personality “I am someone who would always hurry”. But yesterday that changed. I realized I could also remain calm in such situations. I no longer have to be that person who is always in a hurry. There was so much freedom in that realization. I do not have to be that old self any more. I can change. That is possible. (So many of us think …”This is how I am and I will never change”).
This is how human beings change… through insights. .Somewhere probably I got the insight that there is no sense in polluting my mind by creating unnecessary thoughts “I will miss my train…what should I do .. Let me walk fast. .what if I miss it.. I will have to wait for an hour….”I had that acceptance: If that is what the universe wants, then creating such unnecessary thoughts and polluting my mind will not help me get the train. ( I got the train by the way). And hence yesterday my mind did not create such thoughts. As a result, my mind was calm throughout.
I cannot tell you the happiness and satisfaction you get when you see yourself change.
And you cannot do it through will power. Like earlier I had tried to calm myself by creating positive thoughts like “Relax… you will reach on time..you will get the train”. But that did not work.
The only way a human being can create a permanent change in themselves is through insight.
And the only way you can get a lot of insights is by understanding how our human minds work.
